IMPERIAL CONSTITUTION
IMPORTANT ISSUES FOR CONFERENCE DOMINION REPRESENTATION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association i LONDON, Wednesday. The Dominion Office is hopeful of most important' results from an Imperial Constitutional Conference to he held on October S 1 to consider matters referred to it by the Imperial Conference of 1926. These include the operation of the Colonial Laws Validity Act which preceded the institution of sell, government in Canada and Australia, but since then have been found inadequate for modern conditions, notably in relation to merchant shipping. This now is subject to conflicting laws and regulations within the Empire. It is hoped they will be assimilated. It is expected that Lord Passfield, Secretary of State for the Dominions, will preside. New Zealand will be represented by the High Commissioner, Sir James Parr. The conference is to sit in camera. Communiques will be issued periodically.
