SITUATION IN HAND

HURRICANE DAMAGE IN BAHAMAS / NOT VERY WIDESPREAD British Official Wireless RUGBY, Tuesday. The Colonial Office has received a telegram from the officer administering the Government of the Bahamas, stating that from reports received from all outlying islands it appears that the serious effect of the hurricane which visited the colony has been felt only in a few provinces, though the damage in Nassau is considerable. Casualties have been very few and the situation Is well in hand and gives no cause for anxiety. The only relief necessary is for the restoration of housing accommodation in the coloured quarter and the salving of small vessels.

The King has telegraphed his deep concern that the colony has once more been ravaged by a hurricane. His Majesty desires to assure all sufferers of his personal sympathy.
