RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB

VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR NEW SEASON’S OFFICERS Satisfaction that the proposed amalgamation of the Richmond and Ponsonby Cruising Clubs has been abandoned was voiced at the annual meeting of the former club last evening by the president, Mr. J. Donald. There was a good attendance. He said he was very pleased at the decision of the club, because it had been established 22 years, and he hoped it would carry on for all time as a separate body. The commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson, congratulated the club on the excellent racing last season. The

annual regatta had been an outstanding success, the entries being large and the sport good. Regarding the a m algamatmn question, M r. Thompson said the committees of the clubs concerned bad met in two conferences. Richmond had

subsequently decided not to go ahead, and the proposal lapsed. The decision having been reached the commodore asked all members to work for the continued welfare of the club. A profit of £ls on the year’s activities was disclosed in the balanc sheet. Mr. Donald gave £5 toward the club funds for the coming season and offered a medal to the boat securing the highest number of points during the season. Mr. J. Longbottom presented a valuable cup to be won outright. Officers for the year are:—Patron, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth; vice-patron, Mr. J. Longbottom; president, Mr. J. Donald: vice-presidents, same ns last year with the addition of Mr. R. Francis; commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson; vice-commodore, Mr. G. j Smith; rear-commodore, Mr. R. Judd; secretary, Mr. R. J. Thompson; treasurer, Mr. F. Downs; committee, Messrs. T. Bell, J. Sutherland, W. McCullough, Reg. Thompson, R. Judd, T. Hav, J. Wilcox, "W. Herdegen, G. Humby, I. Dennis: delegates to Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association, Messrs. R. Judd and J. Wilcox: j sailing committee, Messrs. T. Bell, I\ ! Downs and E. Hayes. . Messrs. G. E. Laycock and W. A. 1 Wilkinson were elected honorary i members of the club.
