GERMANY’S CHEAP LOAN KILLED OFFER BY MATCH KING Times Cable. Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” states that the premature disclosure by Berlin papers, owing to what is described as an indiscretion, has probably killed a scheme under which the Finance Minister, Dr. Rudolf Hilt'erding, hoped to strengthen Germany’s credit by accepting the offer of the Swedish match king, Ivan Kreuger, of a loan of £30,000,000 at low interest, in return for a match monopoly in Germany. It is reported that the terms of the negotiations included an embargo on foreign matches aimed against the Soviet, which is capturing the market despite the high duties, and the right of the Swedish trust to regulate prices. Kreuger has secured monopolies in most of Europe by offering aid’ in times of financial stringency. The proposal has provoked an outcry against foreign control right throughout Germany.
