The customs duties collected at Dunedin are as follow: —September, 1929, £72,455; September, 1925, £61,367. Beer duty: September, 1929, £20,020; September, 1928, £17,276. Petrol-tax: September. 1929, £4.304; September, 1928, £3,253. Tyre-tax: September, 1929, £1,263; September, 1928, £744.
The returns for the quarter ended September 30, 1929, with the returns for the corresponding quarter last year in parentheses, are:—Customs, £230,207 (£206,031); beer duty, £54,187 (£47,973); petrol-tax. £16,532 (£9,866); tvre-tax, £2,907 (£3,777).
