YIELD FOR NINE MONTHS Customs revenue collected at Auckland since April shows a definite increase over the total for the corresponding period last year. Figures for September also reveal a marked increase over those for September. 1928. The total yield for the past nine months has eclipsed the collection for the corresponding period last year by £178,002. This amount is £53,631 smaller than the collection for the first nine months of 1927. Tyre-tax figures total £3,567 for the month and £30,543 for the nine months, compared with £1,899 for September, 1928, and £35,142 for the first nine months of that year. Collections of motor-spirit duty continue to show an increase. The figures for September were £24,874, compared with £14,520 in September of last year, and collections for the nine months total £243,026, compared wi V £161,974 for the corresponding period in 1928. Beer duty collections show little change. September’s total was £8.039, a decrease of £475 compared with September of last year. For the year to date £85.679 has been collected, compared with £86.555 in the first nine months of 1928.
