Conditions were favourable for the semi-final gallops at Rand wick this morning. Owner IT. A. Knight watched Limerick worK, and later stated that lie was satisfied with his condition, and would give him a strong gallop on Thursday, lie would then be able to decide the horse’s future movements. On the grass track, Tidal defeated Limerick by half a length over a mile in Limerick pulled up better, although slightly distressed. Tidal was somewhat cramped in front. Nightmarch led Kidaides by half a length over eight furlongs in 1.43. Pomp and Pedestal ran four in 55 comfortably. Paquito easily beat Bright Glow over a mile in 1.445, and Perception did a similar distance in 1.43, as did Royal Gold, who defeated Tarapunga. 4 Stormy led Becalmed over five in 1.4. Crucis defeated Winalot by four lengths over ten furlongs in2.B. The Derby candidate Caradale covered seven furlongs in 3.295. Loquacious ran seven furlongs in 1.27, and Ceremony comfortably recorded 1.49$ for a mile. On the tan, Honour led Jaleux by three lengths over three furlongs in 37§. Oratrix went a mile in 1.43. Gilt Edge ran seven furlongs in the record time of 1.251. Gesto led Magdaff over five furlongs in 1.21. A.R.C. SCRATCHING Roundelay has been withdrawn from the Great Northern Guineas, to be run at the Auckland spring: meeting opening at Elierslie on Saturday next.
