FIRST ROUND AT WANGANUI PLAY IN FINE WEATHER Press Association WANGANUI. Today. The amateur golf championship first round was played today in glorious weather. The scores are as follow: Seymour played a good steady game against Horton. Horton was 3 up at the fifth and Seymour* was reduced to 1 at the turn, but did not sustain his effort, Horton winning after doing a 75 round. Additional results are as follow: —X. Louisson beat K. H. Black outplayed J. Harold. He was four up at the turn and won easily by five and three. A feature of this match was that Terawhiti was halved in two. Seifert 76 and Ekstedt 74 represents the margin in Ekstedt’s favour. Conway and Dale were square at the turn in 39, but in the home run Dale was not quite up to his usual game and Conway, ringing in 3,4, 5, 3 and 4, won by 4 and 2. Collins was out in 35 and was too good for the West Coast plainer, Park, who was poor in his short work. J. L. Black went out in 36, and had an easy win over I. Quin. As far as the match went Black was three under fours. K. C. Ward was out in 36 and was 6 up against Armstrong at the turn. Armstrong reduced the lead to 4 up, by which, margin Ward beat him. Ward’s score was 76. Sime played one of his characteristic match play games and, finishing comfortably in 76, defeated Rana Wagg. Blank played a brilliant round of 71 and this gave him a 3 and 2 win over Silk. Blank putted well. Riley had Morpeth extended. Morpeth was three times out of bounds. Going out Riley was 2 up at the 14th but was bunkered three times in the remaining holes, and Morpeth seized his opportunity and was in the greens in two. Riley was unlucky. WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP FOURTH ROUND RESULTS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. The fourth round of the women’s golf championship was played today. Results are: Mrs. Dodgshun beat Miss Barnett, 3 up and 1; Miss O. Stevens beat Mrs. Fraser, 1 up; Miss O. Kay beat Miss Beadel, 7 up and 6; Miss Chrystall beat Mrs. Collinson, 1 up.
