ENTHUSIASTIC MEET
COURSING AT MANGERE Keen interest was shown by the large attendance of the public at the first coursing meet of the recentlyformed Auckland Coursing Club, held on the Otahuhu Trotting Club's course 4 at Mangere Crossing on Saturday afterhoon. Among the spectators were enthusiasts who followed the sport in the “nineties.” Avhen the Avondale Racecourse was the centre of attraction, And with the removal of the plumpton to Point Chevalier, transferred their affections to the new meeting place. Others there Avere A\*ho were present to witness the runs for the first time, and were no doubt attracted by the novelty of the event. For the opening meeting of a newlyformed club, the arrangements were Sood. The plumpton is all that could be desired, and the visiting sportsmen trom Frankton, Patea, Te Aroha and AYaihi were loud in their praise of the Rendition of the turf, and the fine sighting facilities provided for the dogs. The duties of slipper were ably carried out by Mr. R. Polkinghorne, and Mr. F. 'McConnell gave his decisions, which met with the approval of the large gathering, in a satisfactory manner. The back screen provided was hardly satisfactory, and this aa*ill need remedying before the next meeting. The exhibitions of the dogs were of a high standard, and some very good runs were witnessed.
