FIRST ANNUAL DANCE
TAKAPUNA GUIDES HOLD SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The first annual dance of the First Takapuna Company of Girl Guides, held at the Clubhouse, Bayswater, was a pronounced success. The hall was pleasingly decorated and tlie music was all that could be desired. During the evening Mrs. J. W. Williamson, chairman of the Guide Committee, presented Miss M. Cambridge with a pendant, on behalf of the Takapuna Guides. Miss Cambridge is leaving the Takapuna Company to be captain of the North Shore Company. Those of the committee and assistants present were: Mrs. .T. W. Williamson, who wore a blue georgette frock; Mrs. D’Esterre, black crepe de chine and lace; Mrs. Bartrum, frock of green beaded georgette; Mrs. Allnutt, blue crepe de chine; Mrs. T. B. Arthur, floral ring velvet; Mrs. Rentoul, lavender crepe de chine; Mrs. E. Wiseman, crepe de chine with silver lace overdress. Among the others present were: Miss Betty Wilson, wearing an unrelieved black lace frock; Miss A. Payne, yellow georgette with ribbon shoulder posy; Miss D. Dawson, pink crepe de chine; Miss M. Cambridge, lemon yellow taffeja; Miss Trixie Rentoul, primrose georgette with lace; Miss E. Arthur, ecru lace: Miss S. Shaw, biscuit and red crepe de chine; Miss M. Archibald, rose red velvet; Miss N. Odell, mauve taffeta: Miss M. Brown, black velvet; Miss M. Gamble, black georgette: Miss Parsons, frock of champagne taffeta; Miss E. Undrill, shell pink crepe de chine; Miss I. Undrill, primrose yellow crepe de chine; Miss B. Hart Smith, mist blue crepe de chine; Miss N. Arthur, sea green silk; Miss G. Dawson, cherry red silk: Miss D. D’Esterre, lacquer red crepe de chine: Miss D. Whittaker, sea green satin bodice with silver; Miss M. McMurtrie, alice blue taffeta; Miss W. Allnutt, petunia pink georgette: Miss J. Crossley. powder blue crepe de chine: Miss J. Booth, apple green crepe de chine; Miss R. I-Till, apple green satin; Miss E. Crossley, vieux rose crepe de chine; Miss M. Flail, champagne satin; Miss B. Arthur, reseda green satin.
LADIES’ NIGHT
CAMBRIDGE ORPHANS’ CLUB The Cambridge Orphans' Club held its annual Ladies' Night in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, the function being the most enjoyable experienced for a number of years and was a pleasant conclusion to a very successful season. The evening wfis presided over by the president, Bro. T. H. Hampshire, and there was a good representation of visiting members from Hamilton. Morrinsville. Te Aroha and Te Awamutu. Marty ladies were present and a very fine musical programme was submitted.
LADIES’ NIGHT
REMUERA WESLEY CLUB Taking the form of a ladies’ night, the weekly meeting of the Remuera Wes ley Club was held last week. A large attendance favoured the gathering and a much enjoyed programme was presented. Decorated with ferns and greenery the platform appeared most attractive. Perhaps the star item of the evening was a camp fire scene, which included several boat songs and solos sung by various members. Mrs. Carr, the camp mother, gave some pleasing Scottish recitations, which were followed by various songs and o short but most amusing sketch by four of the members. Supper was * provided for the guests at the conclusion of the evening.
