TE KUITI AND TE AWAMUTU A successful function was held in tile Hallway Social ilall at Te Kuiti tho occasion being a farewell social to Mr. Frank Jenyns, of the locomotive staff, who lias been transferred to Helensville. Mr. T. M. O’Connell presided over a large attendance. Hi presenting - Mr. Jenyns with a traveller’s companion and travelling rug, the chairman expressed regret at his departure. Mr. Jenyns liad taken a very prominent part in the sporting life of the com-i munity and his place would be difficult 1 to fill. Members of the staff of the Te Kuiti I branch of the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company meet on Friday afternoon for the purpose of fare- j welling two of its members. Mr. Harry j Douglas, who is commencing business \ on his own account, was the recipient I of a travelling rug and a silver cigar- j : ette case. Miss Adams, who was prei sented with a handsome handbag, is i leaving shortly for Wellington to take iup an appointment there. Mr. M. c. Stranger, manager, made the presentations. Revs. R. Hailey Trill (vicar) and 11. H. Atkey (curate) of St. John's Church, Te Awamutu. were given a farewell on Friday evening. A welcome was also extended to the new vicar. Rev. S. R. Wareing. * Mr. 11. Holt, people's warden, presided. The parishioners presented to Mr. and Mrs. Trill and to Mr. and Mrs. Atkey solid silver tea sets. On behalf of the choir Mr. J. T. Xorth handed to Mr. Trill a cathedral psalter. Additional gifts to Mr. Trill were a dressing gown and to Mr. Atkey a substantial wallet of notes. A hearty welcome was extended to Rev. S. R. Wareing and his mother by Air. H. A. Swarbrick, vicar’s warden. Contributors to the musical programme were Mrs. Puryer, Mrs. L. Maries and Arrs. B. Alorris, with Air. Puryer as accompanist. , A presentation was also made by | members of the Ladies’ Guild, Air. Triil j receiving a case of stainless cutlery | and Air. Atkey a set of crystal ware. At Te Rahu Air. Trill received a I military hairbrush and Air. Atkey a j pipe as tokens of goodwill.
