“SMITHY" IN NEW YORK
WILL FLY THE ATLANTIC NEXT YEAR SOUTHERN CROSS IN HOLLAND '(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) NEW YORK, Saturday. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith arrived at New York today by the liner Nieuw Amsterdam. He said he proposes to make a flight from England to the United States in 1930. The Southern Cross at present is being reconditioned at the Fokker works in Holland. No definite date has been fixed but. the airmau i*pecis to make the flight early next year. Kingsford Smith will stay. In New York about five days. He will then go to Sau Francisco to visit his brother.
