FINED £1 FOR USING BAD LANGUAGE
Evidently having a voice that carries a good distance, William Lawrence Mallery used language that could be heard all over Queen’s Wharf when he went on board the Golden Cloud on Saturday evening. Mallery, a seaman aged 23 pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to a charge of using obscene language and was % fined £l, in default three days* imprisonment. “lie got drunk and wanted to wipe the floor with everyone on the ship,’’ said Sub-Inspector McCarthy. “He used the language on board, but everyone on the wharf could hear him.”
