TO SEARCH FOR GOLD
NEW WAIHI COMPANY From Our Own Correspondent WAIHI. Friday. Further progress in the movement to form a company to make a comprehensive survey of the Ilauraki district in the hope of making important discoveries from a gold-mining point of view was made this week, when a meeting of various interests was held at Waihi. _ A letter was read from Mr. G. C. Creagli, chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange, and head of the firm of Creash and Creagli, intimating that his firm, in conjunction with three others, would be prepared to act as brokers in the selling of shares in connection with the floating of the company. . Provisional directors were appointed as follow: —The Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, Messrs. J. B. Beeche. E. Dye, M. W. Hopkins, W. F. Mac Williams, E. A. McLeay, and W. H. Toy. The prospectus prepared by Mr. FI. W. Hopkins was submitted and approved. For the purpose of the preliminary investigation it is proposed to seek the co-operation of Hr. J. Flenderson, director of geological survey, who will be asked to confer with local mining men as to the most promising areas for exploration.
