FINE TALKIE COMING SOON Against shifting backgrounds of * New York’s colourful East Side and the luxurious surroundings of Riverside Drive, “Younger Generation,” which will bo shown in Auckland shortly as an all-talkie, presents a drama of touching heart interest. Pathos is relieved by deft touches of humour that hide tears with smiles. Dove ready to sacrifice itself for another is revealed in tense situations. A tire in a tenement house, a bold daylight robbery on Fifth Avenue and gay social functions arc among the high-lights. “ Younger Generation” is an adaptation of the story. “The Gold In the Fish,” by Fannie Jlurst. It has been pronounced her best work. As a play it made a tremendous hit. As a story it thrilled millions of readers. As a photodrama it is the sensation of the year. Jean Hersholt has the stellar role and gives one of the best performances of his long and varied career. Tie is supported by an all star cast, one of the best ever assembled for a single production. The list includes the names of Lina Basquette, Rosa Rosa- I nova, Ricardo Cortez and Rex Lease. j Paramount is to film Edith 'Wharton’s novel. “The Children,” as an alltalking production with Fredric March , and Doris Hill in the leading roles with | Lothar Mendes directing.
