The town, which is one of the principal points on the Amur River, is situated on the Russian side opposite the Chinese town of Taheiho, which previously supplied most of the food and clothing of the Siberian town, but with the communications severed, food supplies are practically exhausted. The temperature along the border Is already below freezing point, and terrible privations are feared. In the meantime, the situation is quiet, slight skirmishes only being reported.
