PILOT TO THE PRINCE

CAREFUL CHOICE FROM 80 APPLICANTS DUAL-CONTROLLED PLANE British Official Wireless LONDON, Thursday. Mr. Fielden lias been appointed personal pilot to the Prince of Wales. He was selected out of SO members of the reserve of the Royal Air Force who were considered for the post. It is understood that the Prince does not propose to take out a pilot’s certificate and the new Moth machine which he has purchased will be flown by Mr. Fielden. As the plane is fitted with dual controls, however, the Prince will sometimes fly it.. When tlie Prince uses a service machine Squadron-Leader Don will, as hitherto, pilot it. For the past six months Mr. Fielden has been employed as personal pilot to Captain Guest, chairman of the National Flying Services Company. They only recently returned from an air trip to Africa. Last March Mr. Fielden was awarded the Air Force Cross for distinguished peace-time flying.
