HOSPITAL FEES RAISED
WELUNGTON DECISION EXPENSES INCREASE Press Association. WELLINGTON. Today. By a nine to three majority the Hospital Board has raised its tees from 9s to 12s a day tor adults, and from 4s 6d to 6s tor children. Some of the scales for special treatment, such as X-rays, have also been raised. The chairman said the total coet of the hospital was £228.538 last year. The expenses had continually gone up. The maintenance a bed had increased in six years from £1"0 18s to £l9O 12s. Out-patients had increased from 12,777 to 22,603. Interest charges had gone from £3,546 to £. 16.735. The opposition came from members who believed in a free hospital tor all and that the country at larje should find the cost.
