A taxicar, driven by Mr. D. Barnett, while being driven through the storm was struck by lightning. Fortunately the damage was only slight and Mr. Barnett received only a mild shock. Mr. L. S. Ford waited on the last meeting of the Manunui Town Board and requested that Mr. C. Birnie be asked to remove two fences from a public road running parallel with the Wanganui River. Mr. Birnie had been granted a lease of the land bv the ■Wanganui River Trust, which had since acknowledged itself to be in error in granting the lease. The board decided to explain th© position to Mr. Birnie, and ask him to remove the obstructions from this public road.
