PURE WATER PRECAUTIONS

THAMES CATCHMENT AREA (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, Today. A protest from the iJirector-General of Health against any attempt to use part of the land forming the catchment area of the Thames water supply for settlement was received at 'Wednesday’s meeting of the Thames Borough Council. The letter was apparently sent on account of an application to the borough for a lease over a certain portion of the recently-acquired watershed. Tho Waterworks Committee stated that there was no objection to the granting of the application, on the condition that no building was erected, either now or in the future, within 100 yards of any watercourse affecting the borough supply. After discussion a motion to adopt the report was defeated by an amendment that it be referred back for further consideration to the Waterworks Committee, with power to act.
