WAIKATO MAORI HOSTEL
FOUNDATION CEREMONY AT TUAKAU PRINCESS TE PUEA’S PLAN Tomorrow afternoon Princess Te Puea Herangi will lay the foundation stone of the new. Maori hostel at Tuakau. Last evening the Akarana Maori Association decided to congratulate Te Puea on her efforts to secure the construction of the building. She was the sole mover in the scheme, which is particularly suited to Tuakau, as a centre of Maori population in the Lower Waikato. The Tuakau Town Board assisted Te Puea considerably by securing a Government pound for pound subsidy up to £250. The Maoris raised £3OO.
