WELLINGTON CRICKET ASSOCIATION ADOPTS ENGLISH COUNTY SYSTEM

The Wellington Cricket Association, pfc its annual meeting of delegates, held this week, decided to adopt the English county system of scoring for awarding championship points. These will now be: For an outright win, S points; a win on first innings, 3 points; a. tie on either first or second innings, or A drawn game (i.e., where no result aw arrived at). 4 points each side; a loss on the first innings, 3 points. It is considered that the new system of scoring will speed up the game, as has proved to be th case in England, where more county games had been completed during the past season than during any previous season. Hours of play this summer in Wellington are to be from 2 to 6.30 p.m. NORTH V. SOUTH REFEREE Mr. S. Hollander, a well-known Canterbury referee, has been appointed to referee the North v. South match at Wellington tomorrow. An Otago referee, Mr. E. Herd, will control the New’ Zealand v. Maoris match at "Wellington next "Wednesday. Both appointments were made by the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Appointments Board.
