MR. J. HICKS The death has occurred at Kihikihi of Mr. James Hicks, an old resident of Leamington, at the age of 79. Born In Cornwal, Mr. Hicks came to New Zealand with his wife about 60 years ago, and lived in the Cambridge district. Mrs. Hicks died four years ago. Mr. Hicks is survived by five eons and one daughter. MR. F. A. STODE An old resident of Taranaki. Mr. Frederick Andrew Stode, died at Pukekura on Wednesday, at the age of 70. Mr. Stode came to New Zealand more than 40 years ago, and took up a bush section at Mangatokl, near Eltham, going to Cambridge 12 months ago. He is survived by a widow, four sons, and two daughters. MR. E. S. TWIDLE Mr. Edmund Stephenson Twidle, who has died at Hamilton at the age of 75, was born in Mangere, and for more than 40 years had been a resident of the Waikato district. For a long time he had lived at Claudelands. MR. H. P. R. FOSTER A well-known Auckland dentist. Mr. H. P. R. Foster, died yesterday morning after a short illness at the ag* of 51. Born at Masterton, Mr. Foster had practised In this city for many years. He was a prominent member of the Auckland Golf Club, the Northern Club and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. For three year* during the Great War he served as a captain in the New Zealand Dental Corps. Mr. Foster is survived by his wife and three children. MR. W. D. WALLACE Mr. William David Wallace, who ha* died at his home at Hautapu at the age of 58, was born at West Drumlemble, Campbeltown, Kin tyre, Scotland. and cam© to New Zealand in 1903. taking up farming in the Mangere district, where he lived for eight years. He later took over various properties before taking over the farm at Hautrpu. He was a valued member of the Presbyterian Church. MR. J. J. REDMOND The death occurred suddenly at Whangarei early yesterday morning of Mr. John James Redmond, aged 69. of Waikaraka. Mr. Redmond enjoyed apparently perfect health and his death came as a great shook. Born at Geelong, Victoria, in 1860, Mr. Redmond came to New Zealand when a boy of seven and settled with his parents at Hastings. Hawke’s Bay. H© later became a jockey and was famous throughout the Dominion. His name will be remembered by many of the older followers of racing as the winner of the Grand National Bteeples in 1899, when he rode Blackberry, owned by Mr. R. McCulluch. In latter years he rode Rhino to second place in the same race. Other horse* he rode with success were Maungahare and Donal McKinnon. The latter horse later went to Australia. Deceased had lived In Whangarei district for about six years. He is survived by his wife, wrho was away in Hawke’s Bay at the time of his death, and by their only son, Mr. X. F, Redwood, of Waikaraka.
