MAHENO HELD UP
MISSING FIREMEN DELAY SYDNEY STEAMER Prevented from sailing for Sydney on scheduled time this morning by the absence of two firemen, the intercolonial steamer Malieno was delayed in port from 11 o’clock until 12.15 p.m. When it was found that the two men were missing, immediate steps were taken to secure substitutes, which were eventually engaged. The Malieno had an exceptionally large number, of passengers and as the new firemen mounted the gangway they were greeted with loud cheers from those on board as well as from their friends ashore. The vessel finally cleared port at 12.15 p.m.
