FRIENDLY SOCIETIES’ OFFICERS As the result of representations made by the Thames Chamber of Commerce a Helds officer has been appointed by tlie Department of Agriculture. The officer will be ready to advise farmers in the Coromandel, Thames, Hauraki Plains and Oliinemuri Counties. He is Mr. J. F. Shepherd, who has been with the department for the last 20 years. The following’ officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Thames Friendly Societies’ Hospital Conference, representing 360 members: —President, Mr. J. Pratt; vice-president. Mr. E. Kenny; auditors, Messrs. C. JI. Whitehead and J. A. Briggs: secretary and treasurer, Mr. P. L. Jcnkin. Fishermen are having a prosperous season in the Gulf. Flounder is plentiful, and every day big hauls are landed at tlie local depots.
