ANOTHER space-saving device For the small dining room or living oocn, where it is necessary to make best of limited space, there is a lew adjustable dining table which is excellent from every point of view. ' In some respects it is a modern ver,n of the extending dining table which first made its appearance at the nd of the 18th century, but the new model, by adjustment, gives you the fhoiee’ of no less than five different W Made of oak, it has an oblong centre portion and two ends each in the ..'nape of a half-octagon. The possible five tables are:— l, the full-length table, with the three pieces joined rn-ether: 2, the oblong centre table; 3 and 4. the half-octagons, which make excellent side or “pier” tables; and, 5, an octagonal table made by joining the two ends without the centre piece —this closely resembles a 17th century gate-legged table. This table should prove extremely i seful. and, with its clustered turned le-s in the Jacobean manner, should please those in search of distinctive furniture. in excellent finish can be given to red brick doorsteps by rubbing them over with floor polish. Two or three applications are necessary to rive a pleasing semi-gloss, which lasts tor some time, and steps so treated remain cleaner much longer than when washed with soap and water in the usual wav.
