LADY FERGUSSON VISITS KAPITI ISLAND SANCTUARY FLOURISHING Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. A visit whs paid by her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson and a party to the bird sanctuary on Kapiti Island, which showed cheering signs of a revival of native vegetation following the destruction of the goats and pigs. Mr. Wilkinson, the officer in charge, is helping by planting native trees and shrubs, and the birds are increasing, and becoming tame enough to feed out of one’s band. This was her Excellency’s third and last visit to the spot, in which she has always taken the keenest interest, and the opportunity was seized to secure several photographs and sketches.
