"RIO RITA”
SEASON ENDS TOMORROW Colour and gaiety predominate throughout “Rio Rita,” the dazzling musical comedy which is nightly attracting large audiences to the St. James Theatre. Last night's production sustained its reputation of being something larger and better than the usual entertainment. Much credit is undoubtedly due to Miss Gladys Moncrieff, whose delightful voice is heard to advantage in the tuneful melodies for which “Rio Rita” is justly famous. Mr. Leslie Pearce makes a convincing and manly captain of the Texas rangers. Fascinating Miss Janette Gilmore is a real comedienne, and her acrobatics are excellent. Prolonged applause last evening greeted her dance on roller skates. She is well supported by the male humorists. Messrs. Mallen and Norman. An attractive ballet flits on and off the stage in a bewildering number of gorgeous costumes. “Rio Rita” will be produced at the St. James at a matinee today and again in the evening. The final performance will be given tomorrow night.
