BARKING DOG’S ALARM

EMPTY NEWMARKET HOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE A fire which broke out in an unoccupied house at 9 Broadway, Newmarket, was brought to the attention of neighbours by the excited barking of :> black retriever dog named “Jack,” the property of the next-door neighbour. The fire, which had originated In the kitchen, was easily extinguished by the Newmarket Fire Brigade. It is thought that someone had been sleeping in the building. The house is bwned by Messrs Brown Bros, and Geddes, Ltd., and insured in the South British office for £750.
