PAPATOETOE CONCERT

KNOX HOME CHILDREN On Saturday afternoon a very enjoyable concert was tendered to the inmates of Knox Home, Panmure, by tiie scholars of Aliss Ivy Smytheman's class of St- George’s Anglican Sunday School, Papatoetoe, they were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Smytheman and Master Clifford Richards. The occasion was a unique one, inasmuch as it was the first time, since the erection, of the home in 1914, that juveniles have contributed a programme. Mr. Smytheman introduced the children, to the inmates and announced and explained the items. The arrangement of. the programme was in the hands of Miss Smytheman, and the following items, which , reflected great credit on the tutor, were greatly appreciated by the old folk who were present: Opening chorus, “The Wishing Cop”: elocutionary items, Tui Morey, Effie Trimble, Monica Matheson, Beth Wyman and Zoe Pichards; pianoforte solo. Miss Ivy Smytheman. Jessie Nicholls and Edith Winskill; vocal solos, Mrs. Smytheman, Mr. Smytheman and Tui Morey; vocal duet, Effie Trimble and Tui Morey; two pretty fantasies, “The Seasons” and “Rendezvous,” a playette. "Overhea*al in the Garden,” and a gymnastic display by Master Clifford Pichards. The programme concluded with the wellknown hymn, “Now the Day Js Over" Bouquets were afterward presented by the children to each of the patients, and also the matron and staff. At the conclusion of the function the matron, assisted by the staff, served a dainty afternoon tea to the little visitors, and thanks were given for the very enjoyable, afternoon.
