MUNICIPAL CONCERT

GOOD PROGRAMME BY CHOIR Assisted by the city organist. Ml. Maughan Barnett, the Municipal Choir provided a very entertaining concert at the Town Hall on Saturday evening to an audience of over 300 peoplt who thoroughly appreciated the fare provided. The programme provided was of excellent quality. It included choral works by Mendelssohn, Byrd and AlcEwan, a delightful old English country song “The Farmer's Daughter,” and St Edward German’s ’ Rolling Down to Rio.” Mr. Barnett played Guilmant* “Grand Choeur,” “Andante Expressivo" (Elgar), “Gavotte” (Wesley) and Massenet’s “Aragonaise.” Miss Mary MacCormick afforded pleasure with several well-sung ballads and Miss Jean Allen was warmly applauded for her violin solos. The choirmaster, Mr. E. Randall, accompanied the choir on the organ, and Mr. Leo Whitaker accompanied the soloists. ORGAN RECITAL There was a satisfactory attendance at the Town Hall last evening when the city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, played an attractive programme of organ music. The programme, which included selections from the works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, W'agner, Guilmam. Mailly, Peace and Adam, was warmly received.
