FIREMEN AT THEATRES

BOARD’S RESPONSIBILITY The Te Awamutu Fire Board on Thursday decided to request the Borough Council once more to include provisions for firemen being at attendance in future picture theatre licences. Te Awamutu is practically the only town in the Dominion where firemen are not stationed at picture theatres, said Mr. Dunlop. He felt uneasy as to the- board’s responsibility in case of fire. He suggested that the management of the Empire Theatre be asked once again to agTe.e to the board’s proposal for stationing a fireman on the premises every Wednesday and Saturday night. Should they fail to come to an agreement, the Minister is to be informed.
