SUPPORT FOR REFORM

SOUTH AUCKLAND DISTRICT ORGANISING EFFORTS Enthusiastic meetings of Reform supporters have been held in South Auckland districts recently, when the Political Reform League enlisted many recruits and. revived interest in the movement. A meeting of the executive of the Waikato electorate, held at Morrinsville, was attended by a large number of party supporters, representing every part of thd electorate. Mr. Gordon Edwards, organiser for the Auckland division, and local delegates, gave short addresses on the recent Dominion conference.

Members expressed appreciation of the good work done and offered to assist in furthering the plan to obtain closer co-operation in the electorate and combine with adjoining electorates to further the interests of the party. A motion expressing full confidence in the Reform Party and in the Rt. Hon J. G Coates as -leader was carried with enthusiasm. The meeting further pledged itself to use every endeavour to secure the party's return to power, and expressed the opinion that as the party policy was in the best interests of the farmers and the country generally, every effort should be made to enrol those supporters who were not active members of the Reform League. An informal gathering of Reform supporters in Cambridge and the surrounding districts was held to discuss matters concerning the party’s welfare in the three electorates of Waikato, Rotorua and Raglan, which converge at Cambridge. Speakers expressed alarm at the present political situation and advocated more extensive and co-ordinated effort between the three electorates. Various suggestions were considered, and it was decided to begin an active campaign for the enrolment of members, and to call a second meeting later, at which speakers from other centres would be present.
