“KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT” MAGISTRATE IMPOSES £2O FINE Press Association WELLINGTON, Friday. ‘‘lt is unfortunate to have to suspend the licence of a man who depends to some extent on driving a car for his living,” said Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today, "but car-drivers know what to expect if they are found in a state of intoxication while driving their ve- : hides. They should take precautions not to have liquor when about to drive.” The offending motorist was fined £2O. Mr. A. J. Mazemgarb, who appeared for accused, said his client had been out of work for some time and had recently got a position as a salesman. To hold this position it was necessary for him to drive a car. INTOXICATED LORRY-DRIVER SEQUEL TO COLLISION Press Association MASTERTON, Friday. On a charge of being intoxicated while, in charge of a motor-lorry in High Street on July 4, Samuel Lunn Lewis, a carpenter, was fined £2O in the Magistrate’s Court today before Mr. J. Miller, S.M. The charge was a sequel to a collision with another lorry. Lewis also agreed to take out a prohibition order and on that condition the magistrate said he would not cancel accused's driving licence. In view of his physical disability accused was given six weeks in which to pay the fine.
