M.P. IS REBUKED

ROAD GRANT EXPENDITURE Resentment of interference, by Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P., in suggesting that the proposed Government grant for Redhill Road should be expended on another route was expressed by the Waitemata County Council yesterday. Advising that Mr. Mason had made this recommendation, the district engineer of the Public Works Department asked the council to spend the money in another locality. Opposition to diversion of the grant was raised by the county engineer, whose opinion was supported by the council. A strong protest is to be sent to Mr. Mason, objecting to his action without first consulting the council.
