TRAIN HITS MOTOR-CAR
AGED DRIVER’S NARROW ESCAPE VEHICLE PARTLY WRECKED From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. A narrow escape from death was the experience of Mr. W. Baker, retired, aged about 80, when the sedan car he was driving collided with a train at the Grey Street level-crossing, Claudelands, this morning. Mr. Baker, who resides at Heapley Terrace, was driving slowly in the direction of Fairfield and a mixed train was bound from Cambridge to Frankton. The impact caused the vehicle to swing around, but as the train was travelling at only about 15 miles an hour the car did not overturn. Although the front part of the car, including the engine, was completely wrecked, Mr. Baker escaped without a scratch.
