SPEEDY SUDANESE
IN “FOUR FEATHERS”
In the opinion of Ernst B. Schoedsack who with Merian Cooper made “The’ Four Feathers” in Africa and Hollywood, the "Fuzzy-Wuzzys of the Sudan are Jhe best runners in the world. ... “Ninety per cent, of these natives are apparently physically perfect, with finely proportioned bodies and great endurance,” said Schoedsack. “We used them extensively for runners during the production of the African sequences for ‘The Four Feathers’ and were amazed at their speed over a 20 and 30-mile route.” Cooper and Schoedsack completed work on “The Four Feathers” recently in Hollywood, and the picture will shortly come to New Zealand. They “shot"* many of the episodes included in the film dqring their year’s pilgrimage in the British Sudan. Many of the Fuzzy-Wuzzy tribes, whom Kipling immortalised as “first-class fighting men,” appear as warriors In these scenes.
