BLAZE ON A STEAMER
KNOCKFIERNA’S COAL TAKES FIRE SHIP MAKES FOR ALBANY Reed. 10 a.m. ALBANY", Today. The Irish steamer Knockfierna, en route to Melbourne from Immingham, is making for Albany with a fire in the coal in No. 1 hold. A wireless message from the ship stated that the coal was very hot, and was giving off a heavy quantity of gas continuously. There was no immediate danger, however, and the fire was being kept under control. The Knockfierna, a ship of 5,285 tons,’ is owned by the Limerick Steamship Company.
