Roope Rooster Final
CLASSIC OF CLUB SEASON Marist to Meet Ponsonby CLASSY" football in a game which promises to be the finest club fixture of the season will be staged at Carlaw Park tomorrow when Marist and Ponsonby will meet in the final of the popular Itoope Rooster competition. Both combinations play fast, open style, and while Marist has been playing brilliant end-of-season football, the Ponies have been most consistent throughout the season and ever capable of producing the best of club League. It is difficult to forecast any result.
On recent performances it appears that Marist has a slight advantage in
the forward division, for its pack is made up of a lot of heavy, fast and hard-working packmen, lionsonby will probably find trouble in this quarter, but to this it has to be said that the Ponies’ van, although a bit lighter, has improved considerably lately, and may well hold its own. Both rearguard lines consist of some of the best of Auckland’s backs and,
taking man for man, it is yet difficult to pick out that which may prove to be the weak link on either side. Aluch depends upon the style of play the Tykes will adopt, but in ail probability they will make it the open game, with special attention to the forwards. Ponsonby will indeed rely, a great deal on its backs in its attempt to clinch the honours. Senior Grade Ponsonby.—Delgrrosso. Winters, P.iley, Schofield, Thompson.
