DOSS-HOUSE GRANT
GOVERNMENT GIVES £l5O ANSWER TO APPEAL THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Government will make a grant of £l5O to the support of the Auckland doss-house for unemployed men, as requested some time ago. That information was given to the House of Representatives this afternoon bf the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward. Mr. W. E. Parry (Auckland Central), in an urgent question to the Prime Minister, asked whether, in view of the continued serious position among the Auckland unemployed he would say if he had received any reply to his inquiry of the Auckland Hospital Board regarding the Auckland doss-house. The Prime Minister would remember that joint representation was made to him some time ago by the Auckland members on the subject. The Prime Minister said that a reply had ben received that day. The board had been communicated with on the same day as the subject had been brought under his notice. A grant of £2OO had been made by the Government in May, and now a further grant of £ 150 would be made, as it was considered that the sum would be sufficient for the needs of the season.
