SCHOOL WORK PRAISED

TECHNICAL COLLEGE COUNCIL Appreciation of the good work being done by the School Council of the Seddon Memorial Technical College was expressed by Mr. H. S. W. King, chairman of tho College Board, at a meeting yesterday afternoon. The council, which lias prototypes in the great Knglish Public Schools, is i omposed of boys and girls elected to the body by fellow students at the beginning of each school year. It is selfgoverning and has complete control of til funds pertainng to school affairs. The work done by the students elected to tho body,’* remarked Mr. King, “is of great value in improving the tone and reputation of the school." A letter had been received from the Board of Managers expres.sing its sincere thanks for every facility that has been afforded by the college for the ■visits of student teachers in order to receive special training. A further letter, from the Apprenticeship Committee, commended the high standard of work maintained by the printing trades classes at the college. At the request of the principal, Mr. G. J. Park, a grant of £IOO was approved for the electrical laboratory. It was considered that sufficient pupils were attending the school, and new premises should be acquired before the number, which is 1,000, be allowed to increase.

Mr. IT. S. W King was re-elected chairman and Mr. Watts was appointed K vice-chairman.
