NGATEA HIGH SCHOOL
ADDITIONS APPROVED Advice was received by the Ngatea District High School Committee at its last meeting that a grant had been made for additions to the school and gratification was expressed when the secretary, reporting on an interview with the Education Board’s architect, mentioned that it was proposed to build an infant department at the far end of the playground. Its situation and design would be such that all the sunlight possible would be obtained and the building, which had been planned with a view to future extensions, would probably be completed by Christmas. Advice was also received that a strip of land 20ft wide had been set aside as an entrance to the newlyacquired sports ground. It was reported that the sports ground had been let for sheep grazing so as to improve the pasture and that a working-bee had been arranged to improve the ground. The question of providing ornamental gates for the main entrance out of the publically subscribed ground improvement fund was deferred.
