A RANFURLY SHIELD MEMORY
"Ex-Rep.” writes. —Apropos your interesting article about AucklandWellington football, I remember a match round about 1912 when Wellington sent up a red-hot team to lift the Ranfurly Shield. Fred Roberts was captain, and had with him Jim MofFitt, "Rangi” Wilson. Eddie Ryan, "Pete” McKenzie and half a dozen other cracks. It looked a guinea to a gooseberry on Poneke, but Auckland won 12 to nil, Victor Macky scoring four tries on the wing. In the Auckland team were:—Karl Ifwersen, A. J. McGregor, Joe O’Leary, Bill Cunningham, George Sellars, Jim Bruce, and several other good ’uns. Ted McKenzie was the referee.
