RUGBY REPS. TO PLAY EXTRA GAME UNION’S WEEKLY MEETING The decision that Auckland would play another match against Thames this season was made by the Auckland Rugby Union match committee, which met last evenTHE match will be played at Thames i on October 5 and has been ar- ! ranged at the request of the Thames I Union. > Mr. A. Belcher assured the meeting j that he had spoken to Mr. V. R. Meredith, selector, who was of the opinion 1 that there would be no difficulty in I sending away Auckland’s best team on i that date. Consideration of the New Zealand , Union’s query as to whether Auckland ' was playing under different rules from j those in the New Zealand Union’s handbook and demand for an explanation was again deferred on account of the indisposition of Mr. H. Frost, chairman of the committee. Technical Old Boys were declared winners of the Bollard Cup and it was decided to send a letter of congratulation to the club. The Otahuhu Club was given permission to hold a charge day on September 28| proceeds to be in aid of the Free Kindergarten Building Fund. Mr. S. Cleal, manager of the representative team that visited Pukekohe and defeated South Auckland last Saturday, reported that the game was bright and interesting, and the players’ conduct excellent. Canterbury Union wrote thanking the union for the hospitality extended to the team which visited Auckland recently. In accordance with the Junior Management Board’s suggestion, it was decided to close sectional play in the third intermediate grade. Ponsonby and Marist. sectional finalises, will play off. The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday:—Showgrounds, Messrs. Hoare and Redmond; Point Chevalier, Mr. Worsfold; Domain, Mr. Matthews; Onehunga. Mr. Heigh way. TEAMS TO TRAVEL SATURDAY’S RUGBY TOURISTS Rugby teams to Journey afield on Saturday, according to information supplied at last evening’s meeting of the Rugby Union’s Management Committee, are as follow:—City seniors to Waihi, with Mr. Barnes as manager: Parnell to Waihi; Papatoetoe to Pukekohe; Manukau to Patumahoe; Northcote to Riverhead. All these trips except that of City to Waihi were recommended by the Junior Management Board. The board also suggested that the junior representatives play South Auckland at Papakura on Saturday, with Mr. Galbraith as manager. Two intermediate representative teams arc to travel on September 28—one to Huntly and the other to Pukekohe.
