DARING ESCAPE MADE
CONSTABLE KNOCKED DOWN AND ASSAULTED TRACKER FINDS PRISONERS Reed. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A Bourke message states that three prisoners made a daring escape from the Yatanbulla lock-up. When Constable Rippon took the men tea they knocked him down and brutally assaulted him, rendering him unconscious. They then escaped into the bush. The police on surrounding stations were immediately notified, and a hunt for the escapees continued throughout the night. A tracker discovered the prisoners next day. The police travelled over 100 miles in the course Of the search.
