NEW COADJUTOR BISHOP
ROMAN CATHOLIC SEE OF MAITLAND SYDNEY, Tuesday. Dr. Edmund Gleeson has been consecrated as Coadjutor Bishop of the Roman Catholic see of Maitland. Dr. Edmund J. Gleeson was ordained in Ireland about 37 years ago, and spent his early years in the ministry in the Maitland diocese. ■ He joined the Redemptorists in 1904, and has travelled much in Australia and New Zealand as a missioner. He has been Superior of the Redemptorist Monastery at Waratah for the last few years. Dr. J. W. Dwyer, Bishop of Maitland, was the first Australian to be appointed to the Roman Catholic episcopacy.
