GREEK BANDIT’S COUP

“GENTLEMAN BRIGAND” GETS RANSOM GREAT SEARCH BY TROOPS ( U nited Service) Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The Athens correspondent of the "Manchester Guardian” says that after a week in the clutches of Tzazas, the so-called gentleman brigand of Greece, six captives, including Senator Hadjikaiti and his daughter, were released on payment of a ransom of £1.333. Tzazas originally captured 100 holi-day-makers at Tricala. He made the men turn out their pockets, took their names, retained the wealthiest of them, and sent the remainder to Tricala with the demand for ransom. Thousands of troops and policemen are now scouring the mountains in search of the gang, but it is feared the trail has been lost. Pursuit has been hitherto withheld owing to fears for the captives’ lives.
