SOCIAL EVENING
DANCE TO CELEBRATE RETIREMENT TAUPIRI ENTERTAINMENT On Monday evening 200 persons gathered at the Taupiri Hall, at the invitation of Mr. R. T. Hill, to a dance, marking the occasion of his retirement from the Taupiri General Store, which has been in the hands of Hill Bros, for a number of years. Splendid music was supplied by Hildreth’s Orchestra, of Hamilton. Among those present representing Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Taupiri and the surrounding districts were: Mrs. R. T. Hill, who wore a frock of Pink taffeta and net; Mrs. L. Wilson, black, with lace overdress: Mrs. A. U. Waring, black and silver frock; Mrs. F. Wilson, black velvet; Mrs. X. Wilson, blue chenille velvet; Mrs. G. Walter, lavender crepe de chine and lace; Mrs. E. Powell, cream lace frock, Mrs. F. Catley,. figured crepe de chine; Airs. Bentley, blue and silver: Mrs. D. McKercher, green satin beaute; Mrs. Geddes, pink crepe cle chine and georgette; Mrs. Dibble, pink georgette and lace; Mrs. \v right, vieux rose marocaine; Mrs. Gaby, black crepe de cliine; Mrs. Sawman, black merle silk: Mrs. F. Day, pale blue and silver frock; Mrs. A. Charles, pretty pink georgette frock. Miss M. Green, was wearing lemon velvet and lace; Mies Edwards, pink silk and tulle; Miss Barclay, green sequined georgette; Miss I-lorwood, white taffeta silk; Miss R. Charles, green, with lace overdress; Miss X. Wilson, white satin and georgette; Miss. V. Wilson, eau de ml georgette; Miss Buckley, black and ied frock; Miss Hunter, apricot crepe de chine; Miss Eagleson, black crepe de chine; Miss V. Hyde, prune panne velvet; Miss Campbell, vieux rose taffeta; Miss B. Shaw, green silk frock; Miss P. Shaw, red crepe de chine; Miss P. West, cornflower blue crepe cle. chine; Miss Stokes, blue and silver; M iss A. Gerrard, pink silk and lace frock; Miss E. Gerrard, blue silk; Miss V. Tapper, powder blue silk. Miss O'Connor was in a frock of shot taffeta; Miss P. Ford, pink silk; Miss Lovell, metal bodice, with, mauve georgette skirt; Miss G. Baucke, mauve geox-gette; Miss G. Jones, blue chenille georgette. The hall liad been very prettilv decorated with red and white streamers and nikau palm leaves. The Monte Carlo novelty dance was won by Miss O’Connor and her partner. Ices were handed round during the evening. In thanking Mr. and Mrs. Hill for the happy evening afforded all present, Mr. V. Wright spoke of Mr. Hill’s sterling qualities. Mr. Hill is one of the best known identities of the Waikato, being a keen football enthusiast and president of the Taupiri Bowling Club.
