NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB DECORATES ELABORATELY FOR ANNUAL FUNCTION

Massed nikau i and greenery clothed the walls, and floating balloons in rainbow tints filled the ceiling. Mr. E. Aldridge. Mayor of! Devon- - Poi’t, and Miss Aldridge distributed the , prizes, a handsome array of cups, • miniature cups, gold medals, photos’, blazers, caps, books, etc., and the Mayor congratulated the club on its very fine record for' the season. The bigger trophies included the Mcll- , wraith Cup, the Waikato Shield, the Mason Cup and the Rope Cup, all coveted in rowing circles. The crews had lb “places” to their honour. The committee controlling the evening included:—Mrs. S. Rutland, who wore a shadow blue lace frock over crepe de chine; Mrs. C. Farquharson, who had on oriental finished georgette: Mrs. Rutland, leaf green lace over : satin, with pink satin hip bow; Mrs. . Sharp, in evening pink sequined charmeuse; Miss Tatton, lace over peach crepo de chine; Miss Melville, gold lame and taffeta; Miss Porter, lemon crepe de chine and lace frock of uneven draping; Miss Charman, pink beaded georgette. A PRESENTATION A special recognition of the work of the club captain, Mr. S. Rutland, who has had nine years’ active connection with the club, took the form of a presentation. Music was in the hands of the Kit Kat Dance Band. Among the dance patrons were: Miss Aldridge, in rose petal shaded georgette; Mrs. A. Dalton, who wore wine crepe de chine; Mrs. I.
