Reference to the serious lire loss in New Zealand was made at a meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board and a resolution was passed endorsing the suggestion of Mr. T. Hugo, inspector of tiro brigades, that compulsorv instruction in lire prevention should be si veil in schools *nd colleges.
